Everton S. Latty, PhD
SEGP was founded by Everton S. Latty, PhD (or “Ed”), an investor and operator with experience across biotechnology, private equity, information technology, and financial services.
Dr. Latty previously managed Recombinix, LLC, acquired and led an airport logistics company, and sourced capital for the proposed acquisition of a pharmaceutical distribution business. He also served as Course Director and Lecturer for the graduate course Biotechnology Enterprise at The Johns Hopkins University, where he designed and taught a curriculum through which participants developed more than eighteen investor-ready scientific ventures. Earlier, he served as an Adjunct Professor of Venture Capital & Private Equity in Howard University’s MBA program—teaching students who went on to serve as executives at global corporations and large investment firms.
His transaction and operating experience include sourcing capital for consumer and biopharmaceutical transactions, arranging financing for large commercial real estate (CRE) developments, acquiring an airport logistics platform, and overseeing diligence related to multibillion-dollar real estate acquisitions. His background also includes serving as interim chief executive officer of an acquired commercial bank and leading an investment banking firm within an insurance parent group focused on media financing.
He earned a Master of Science in Biotechnology from The Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Science in Real Estate Development from New York University, a PhD in Business Analytics & Decision Sciences (with dissertation focusing on CRE Data Science), and an MBA in Finance. He also completed medical doctoral coursework and pursued graduate-level study at institutions including Carnegie Mellon University and Harvard University.
